CLIMACT Atmospheric Science Day 2023

Climate change is one of the most pressing and complex issues facing our planet. Understanding its causes and consequences requires a deep knowledge of atmospheric science, which focuses on the physical, chemical, and dynamical processes governing the Earth's atmosphere.

In November 2023, EPFL and UNIL will come together for the CLIMACT Atmospheric Science Day 2023, a one-day event dedicated to presenting recent research results and fostering scientific dialogue. In this brief article, we take a closer look at some of the key research themes at UNIL and EPFL, as well as their course offerings for students interested in pursuing a career in climate science.

From atmospheric predictability and climate modeling to air quality and geostatistics, Lausanne-based research institutions now include more than ten research groups that work on various aspects of atmospheric science:

EPFL and UNIL offer several Bachelor and Masters courses that cover various topics in atmospheric science, from the introductory to the advanced level. The courses aim to equip students with a comprehensive scientific understanding of the climate system across scales, from meteorology to climate change and its impacts, and from fundamental atmospheric physics/chemistry to remote sensing. Most courses mix disciplines and provide students with the necessary skills to work on climate change issues from a scientific and engineering perspective. To find out more about the courses offered at EPFL and UNIL in atmospheric science, click on the menu below:
